Plumlee returns to Indiana and works out for Pacers

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WLFI) - The Indiana Pacers held another pre-draft workout on Tuesday, their fifth workout in preparation for the 2012 NBA Draft.

One player that worked out for the Pacers was Indiana native and former Duke Blue Devil Miles Plumlee.

NBA scouts say Plumlee is an athletic big man with outstanding leaping ability and foot speed who was one of the top run and jump athletes in the ACC this past season.

As for Plumlee, he is just happy to be back in Indiana, a place where he has lots of memories which includes knocking off Butler in the 2010 National Championship game.

“I remember coming to some games and looking in on practice and it's funny to be here playing now. That was the last time I think I was here and we took practice in here before that so I have good memories here,” said Plumlee.

There’s no doubt the Plumlee’s are a basketball family, Miles credits that to picking up the sport at a young age.

“I think we just love the game, I mean everyone I know who lives in Indiana have been playing since we can remember and I'm included in that. When you grow up playing a game you love it and it's kind of natural for you and I think those intangibles translate especially at this level,” said Plumlee.

Tuesday’s workout was tabbed the tallest workout group to date as they brought in two 7-footers, two players at about 6'10", and the "shortest" players were listed at 6'6". Squaring off against Plumlee today was Syracuse big man Fab Melo in a 3-on-3 scrimmage.

Also taking part in the scrimmage was Chris Johnson of Dayton, Jarrod Jones of Ball State, Kyle O'Quinn of Norfolk State, and Jonathon Simmons of Houston.

“I've been working at this my whole life, it's a dream of mine and I feel like I have the skills and the physical tools to play in this league a long time,” said Plumlee.
