Ohio University hires Smith

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Ohio University announced Monday that it has hired former Purdue assistant Rob Smith as their new head coach.
Smith was the pitching coach from 2002-06 at Purdue. He spent six seasons as an assistant at Creighton before being selected as the Bobcats' head coach. He replaces long-time Ohio coach Joe Carbone, who was the leader of the program for 24 years.
Purdue and Ohio played a weekend series against each other in March of 2008 and 2010
