WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Officials from the North Central Conference met with athletic administrators from the Bronchos, Mavericks, and Raiders' programs Thursday.
The conference movement started when seven Indianapolis schools announced they were leaving the Hoosier Crossroads Conference to form their own conference.
At the moment, the North Central Conference consists of Anderson, Huntington North, Kokomo, Logansport, Marion, Muncie Central, New Castle, and Richmond.
Logansport Athletic Director Greg Fisher took part in the tours today at the three area high schools and left feeling good about how the process has gone up to this point.
“They're interested and we are glad to see that they are interested in the North Central Conference. And the North Central Conference is interested in hearing what they have to say,” said Greg Fisher. “We think it's a win-win situation for us and now it's just a matter of sitting down and seeing if it is a good fit for everyone,” said Fisher.
There is speculation swirling that Lafayette Jeff could be asked to rejoin the NCC while Harrison and McCutcheon would be left out. At this point, nothing has been decided and any movement that is made will be done based on long term goals the NCC has for its schools.
“We certainly don't want to do anything and then try to figure it out later and make a change that doesn’t need to be made. There is a lot of discussion that needs to be done, we had a great day and have started that process and will continue that and hopefully come to some resolution in the very near future,” said Fisher.
