WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - The trio of the most recently hired Purdue football assistant coaches met with area media members for the first time since joining Danny Hope's Boilermakers coaching staff.

"We want to have a package in place that's going to allow us to put our best players on the football field," said defensive coordinator Tim Tibesar.

Greg Burns is the Boilers new defensive backs coach and says his philosophy on defense is to be aggressive but uncomplicated.

"I would anticipate us being an attacking-style defense," says Burns. "Multiple yet simple. Giving a lot of of our athletes opportunities to showcase their skills."

Kevin Wolthausen is the Boilers new defensive line coach likes the coaching philosophies of Hope and Tibesar.

"When I was able to get an opportunity to get an opportunity to come in here and visit with Coach Hope and the rest of the coaches here and see the direction that they're on...the mission statement," Wolthausen said, "It fits right in with a lot of the thoughts and things that I like."
