WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Northern Illinois scored 28 consecutive points and held off a Purdue rally with a late fake punt to defeat the Boilermakers 28-21 in a college football contest Saturday, September 19, at Ross Ade-Stadium.
The Boilermakers led 7-0 when the Huskies scored 28 unanswered points to take a 28-7 third quarter lead. The Boilers pulled to within 28-21 with less than four minutes to go in the game when the Huskies successfully excuted a fake punt on fourth down inside the Huskies' 20-yard line.
Purdue is now 1-1 on the season and hosts Notre Dame next Saturday, September 26, at 8 p.m.
