UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. (WLFI) - Sixth-ranked Purdue men's basketball clinched its first Big Ten regular season title in 14 years thanks to a 64-60 victory over Penn State Saturday, March 6 at the Bryce Jordan Center in University Park, Pennsylvania.
JaJuan Johnson scored 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Boilermakers. Senior Keaton Grant added 17 points for the victorius Boilermakers.
With the win, the Boilermakers also clinched the second seed in next week's Big Ten Tournament.
Purdue finishes the Big Ten regular season with a record of 14-4, matching co-champion Ohio State. Michigan State can also share of the conference title if the Spartans can beat Michigan Sunday.
Purdue's last regular season Big Ten title came in 1996. The Boilermakers won their first-ever Big Ten Tournament title in 2009.
