INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The Indiana Pacers called an 11:00 a.m. news conference for Wednesday, after the Indianapolis Star reported Tuesday that Pacers President Larry Bird is leaving the organization.
Pacers officials didn’t say Tuesday what the purpose of the news conference was. The organization also declined comment on the report about Bird’s departure.
Bird has served as president of basketball operations for the Pacers since 2003. Despite several media reports in the past year, the Pacers and Bird had continually declined to discuss his future with the team.
Tuesday’s report in the Star cited an identified source as revealing the information about Bird.
