DELPHI, Ind. (WLFI) - Delphi senior guard/forward Cole Murray verbally committed to Northern Kentucky on Tuesday afternoon.
The 6-foot-7 Murray averaged 21.1 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.4 steals and 2.3 blocks for the Oracles as a junior and is excited at the chance to play early and often for the Norse.
“I just loved it there, I will have the chance to step in right away and make an impact,” said Cole Murray.
Delphi head coach Michael Lewis was thrilled when he heard the news and knows his star will be a good fit at NKU.
“I am very excited for Cole to have the opportunity to continue his education and basketball career at NKU. They did an outstanding job in the recruitment process in making Cole feel like a priority for the 2013 class," said Delphi head coach Michael Lewis.
Comfort level was important to Murray throughout the recruiting process and at the end of the day his head coach believes he mad the right choice.
"Cole feels very comfortable with the coaching staff. He believes this is place where he will have the opportunity to earn a role early in his career. They will not only continue to further develop him as a player, but also as a quality young man," said Lewis.
Coach Lewis arrived at Delphi when Murray was entering his sophomore season. The pair have grown together and Lewis appreciates the strides the senior has made.
"As a coach I am extremely proud of the strides Cole has made as a player and as a person to have earned this opportunity," said Lewis.
