Lafayette Boxing Club sees growth

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - The Lafayette Boxing Club has seen growth and a lot of change recently.

The Club has seen an increase in attendance each night at practice and has also received new equipment through donations and a fundraiser they held.

"We have really tried to make more space to help with the demand because we have had quite a few more boxers show up," said Lafayette Boxing Club member Kate Mane. 

"Sometimes I used to be the only one there and there would be two or three people sometimes but now every night we get at least 10 to 12," said Lafayette Boxing Club member Tate Sturgeon. "So, its good to have other people out here."

The Club recently applied for non profit and was granted it, which means they could have the opportunity to apply for grants.

"We have tried to incorporate a lot more structure into the club and just recently we applied to be a non profit in the state of Indiana and we got accepted for that," said Mane. "So, we are now Lafayette Boxing Club Incorporated."

They are hoping that with this new opportunity the Club can continue to grow and train more fighters.
