Knights 48 game winning streak snapped

CULVER, Ind. (WLFI) - Lafayette Central Catholic falls to Culver Military Academy 14-12 to suffer their first loss since 2009. CC's 48-game winning streak which began in 2009 stands second in state history only to Bloomington's 60 straight from 1967-73.

On a night where the field wasn't in ideal conditions and the game was delayed and hour due to rain and lighting in the area, the central catholic knights couldn't find a rhythm offensively and fell in the closing seconds to Culver Academy.

Timmy Mills who started the game at quarterback, was moved to wide receiver to help jump start the offense and did just that on CC's final drive of the game. Junior Ty Preston was brought in to run the Knights offense and for the most part did his job as CC drove deep into Eagles territory with the clock winding down.

Ty Preston finished the game 6-17 for 99 yards and 1 interception and he would like to have that one back. Needing a 2 pt conversion to tie the game, Preston threw a desperation pass in the middle of the end zone which was picked off by the Eagles.

The Knights tried to recover the onside kick but were unsuccessful and the rest as they say was history. Central Catholic returns to action next week as they head to Benton County to take on the Bison. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
