INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WLFI) - On Friday, the IHSAA said that class basketball in the state of Indiana will not change.

A series of 11 meetings were held around the state to allow the public to voice their opinion on whether the state should return to a single class basketball tournament or keep the playoffs like they are now. Of the 514 ballots cast during the 11 meetings, 68.09% favored a return to the single class tournament while 31.91% supported the current multiple class tournament.

The IHSAA also took polls from principals, athletic administrators, boys and girls basketball coaches, as well as boys and girls varsity basketball players at IHSAA member schools. Each of those groups showed strong support for the multiple class tournaments with a majority of principals (76.82%), athletic directors (79.29%), basketball coaches (54.97%) and student-athletes (72.16) voting in favor of the class system.

After the studies, the IHSAA decided to not make any changes to the current system at this time.
