INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WLFI) - The NBA Draft is less than a week away and, for one former Boilermaker, working out for a dozen teams has become a grind.
The last 6 weeks have been a wild ride for Robbie Hummel.
As he returned to Indiana last night, only 3 workouts remained on schedule that has been jam-packed. And after Friday's workout for the Pacers, Hummel talked about how he has enjoyed the process of preparing for life in the NBA.
With Team President Larry Bird and Head Coach Frank Vogel looking on, Hummel knocked down shot after shot on the Pacers practice court, a familiar venue that made Hummel feel right at home.
“This is the best, definitely the best I have played maybe ever to be honest. I feel like shooting the ball-wise I have been very good and, just from a playing perspective, I feel like I am doing pretty well,” said Hummel.
After proving himself all season long for the Boilermakers, Hummel has had to start over for NBA executives, proving his knee is ok and that he can play in the NBA.
“I feel like I have proven that I'm healthy, I have been to 11 of these and I have done everything that they have asked. I checked out in the medical stuff, my MRI'S look good so I really don't know what else I can do to be honest,” said Hummel.
With trips remaining to Charlotte and Toronto, Thursday's NBA Draft can not come soon enough.
“I can’t wait. I have the date circled on my calendar. It's one of those things where the workouts aren't bad at all. They are a lot of fun. It's the travel, sitting in airports, the delays and all of that gets old and kind of exhausting actually,” said Hummel.
