Lafayette All-Stars Nipped In CWS Opener

LAFAYETTE, Ind. - A team from Gurabo, Puerto Rico held off a game effort from the Lafayette All-Stars to edge the All-Stars 5-4 during the opening night of competition at the 2009 Colt World Series at Loeb Stadium in Lafayette.

Mexico defeated Germany 12-4 and Greensboro, North Carolina downed Joliet, Illinois in the other two Colt World Series games Wednesday.

Thursday's schedule has Tampa, Florida facing Mexico at 2:30 p.m., followed by Greensboro, North Carolina versus Philippines at 5 p.m. and Hoosier North taking on Santa Clara, California at 7:30 p.m.
