CHALMERS, Ind. (WLFI) - Frontier's volleyball team made history last season, as the Lady Falcons advanced to semi-state for the first time ever.
"It was really great to be in that atmosphere with all the fans and everybody. Even people that weren't from the community were there rooting us on. It was nice to experience that," said Frontier senior Jenna Sullivan.
"It was very special for the team to make it that far. The girls worked really hard and proved along the way they could play at that level," said Frontier head coach Shelly Pullins.
Majority of the team returned this season including six seniors. However, with their return brought a lot of expectations from the school and the community.
"Everyone always asks 'are you going to win state this year?' and we always say we are taking one game at a time. If we don't we are going to get ahead of ourselves," said Frontier senior Jesah Marlatt.
"There is a lot of pressure coming into this year, knowing how far we made it last year. We know a lot of teams are out for us this year. So, we have a lot of expectations for ourselves," said Frontier senior Corin Runk.
This close knit group has bonded together and handled the pressure that has been placed on them.
"This senior group of girls has grown so close the past few years," said Sullivan. "We are a very tight knit group. I think we have decided that it is our time to take over and our time to shine along with everybody else on this team."
"Knowing that every school we go into that school wants to beat us and I think it just makes these girls play even harder," said Pullins.
The Lady Falcons are focused on playing one game at a time but it still would be very special for these close friends to end their careers playing for a state title.
Frontier is 13-1 on the season and is currently ranked number 6 in the state in class 1A.
