LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Lafayette Jeff's junior running back Darian Green has dealt with ankle injuries during his career. Fortunately, this season he is healthy and he is playing at a different level.
"Last year I got hurt and had a high ankle sprain. I was out a couple games. This season I worked hard because I didn't want to experience that again," said Green
"Last couple years he has tweaked his ankles and this is the first year that he has been healthy," said Lafayette Jeff head coach Andy Kennedy.
Green came storming out of the gates this season. Through his first three games, he rushed for 544 yards and seven touchdowns, which is an average of 180 yards and two touchdowns per game.
"I expect a lot from myself and I am my biggest critic and I am hard on myself, and I put a lot of pressure on myself to perform better and better each game," said Green.
Green's head coach Andy Kennedy believes his running back is playing the best football of his career.
"I think he is playing at an extremely high level, and we like to always compare him to the teams we play and the teams we see on film, and he could play for anybody," said Kennedy. "He is as quick as anybody that we have ever had. I don't know if we have ever had anybody as quick as Darian. He's a special player."
Now the competition will ramp up for Lafayette Jeff, but Green is focused on helping lead the Bronchos to their best season yet, under head coach Andy Kennedy.
