WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Future Boilermaker Lilly Fecho was named as Gatorade Softball Player of the Year for the state of Illinois on June 6, 2012.

Fecho, a left handed pitcher from Glenbard North High School in Carol Stream, Ill., led the Panthers to a 34-3 record and the class 4A sectional championship game in 2012.

A two-time unanimous all-conference and all-area selection, she managed a 27-3 record, an 0.88 ERA and 254 strikeouts in 192 innings of work as a senior. Fecho also batted .393 with 33 RBI, 28 runs, a .696 slugging percentage and .424 on-base percentage her final season.

Fecho also has excelled in the classroom and picked up academic all-conference honors her freshman through junior years. The three-time Academic Excellence Award winner and honor roll honoree also is a member of the Mu Alpha Theta mathematics honor society and Spanish honor society.

Fecho played summer ball for the Carol Stream Storm and the Illinois Chill 18 U Gold, which clinched an 18U ASA Gold National bid in 2010 and went to PGF Nationals in 2011.

Fecho is one of four players that signed with Purdue softball in November.
