Four Boilers receive Big Ten honors

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Four members of Purdue men's basketball team received Big Ten postseason honors on Monday.

Terone Johnson was voted a third team All-Big Ten performer by the coaches. The media selected him as an honorable mention All-Big Ten performer. Johnson averaged 14.2 points per game in the conference and 4.8 rebounds per contest. He scored a career high 32 points against Michigan on March 6, 2013.

D.J. Byrd was named honorable mention All-Big Ten by the media. Byrd averaged 10.1 points and 3.9 rebounds per game in the Big Ten.

A.J. Hammons made the All-Big Ten Freshman Team. He is the sixth Boilermaker to receive that honor since 2006. Hammons averaged 11.4 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per contest in the Big Ten.

Dru Anthrop was recognized as Purdue's honoree for the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award. The Lafayette, Ind., native and his father, John, are the only father-son combo to both win Big Ten championships as Purdue.

Purdue is the No. 7 seed in the upcoming Big Ten tournament. The Boilers face No. 10 seed Nebraska at 6:30 pm ET on Thursday at the United Center in Chicago.
