FLORA, Ind. (WLFI) - Though some have said the race isn't happening, a press release from Reinke Sports Group states that the race is still on, but now in Flora.
In spite of the relocation, Reinke Sports is still referring to the event as the Home of Purdue Half Marathon.
Purdue University, Lafayette, and West Lafayette originally intended to be partners in the race, but officials said they notified the event organizer Dean Reinke in February to stop advertising a partnership with them.
The press release stated that the new beneficiary of the event will be the Carroll County Community Center.
According to the event's website, the race is scheduled to take place on the weekend of October 23 and 24, with the Half Marathon kicking off at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday. There will also be a 5k race and a 1 Mile Fun Run. The press release said all races will start and finish at Flora's Community Park, adjacent to the community center.
The press release stated that over 900 people had already registered.
