Dustin Miller breaks David Boudia's HCC record for total points in a competion

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Lafayette Jeff senior diver Dustin Miller found himself in good company on Saturday at the Hoosier Crossroads Conference swimming and diving meet.

Lafayette Jeff's Dustin Miller enjoyed successful dive after dive on Saturday. He finished his competition, tallied the points, and discovered he had surpassed David Boudia's HCC mark for total points in a competition.

"We were really surprised on Saturday to learn that he had gone higher than what David Boudia had gone. It is an amazing thing and I remember when David was a freshman and he did go that. I was at that meet judging. For Dustin to get to that level after working so hard to break that record, it was very good," said Deana Sotelo.

Miller is a big fan of Boudia's and has watched his competitions, including his gold medal performance in the Olympics.

"I just remember watching it and I just couldn't believe it. You know going in I had thought that he might get a medal but then in semis he was in 18th place. Then to go from 18th to first is just unheard of and especially him being local and seeing him around is just really cool," said Dustin Miller.

Miller hopes he can compete in the Olympics one day. But for now, he is focused on completing his high school career and gearing up to compete at the collegiate level with Florida State.
