HOUSTON, TX (WLFI) - The Indianapolis Colts fell to the Houston Texans, 29-17 on Sunday.
Indianapolis missed out on two possible touchdown drives in the first half. Colts' running back Mewelde Moore fumbled the ball on the Texans one yard line and Houston recovered. Also, Colts' quarterback Andrew Luck connected with Reggie Wayne for a touchdown but the play was called back due to off-setting penalties against the Colts and Texans.
The Colts had a punt blocked by the Texans in the first half and returned for a touchdown. Indianapolis trailed at that point 20-3.
Indianapolis did respond as Luck connected with wide receiver T.Y. Hilton on a 61 yard touchdown pass before halftime. The pass was the longest for both Luck and Hilton this season. The score marked Luck’s sixth touchdown pass from 30 or more yards and fourth touchdown pass from 40 yards or more this season. Colts trailed 20-10 at halftime.
Luck recorded his second touchdown of the day when he found Dwayne Allen for an eight yard score at the 2:32 in the third quarter.
However, the Colts couldn't find the end zone again as the Texans picked up the win to improve to 12-2 on the season. The Colts dropped to 9-5.
Colts' running back Vick Ballard recorded his first career 100 yard rushing game. Ballard rushed for 105 yards on 18 carries.
Luck completed 13-27 passes for 186 yards and two touchdowns. He enters next week’s game at Kansas City 74 passing yards shy of breaking Cam Newton’s NFL record for passing yards by a rookie quarterback (4,051).
Indianapolis travels to Kansas City next Sunday. Kick-off is set for 1 pm.
