WEST LAFAYETTE, IND. (WLFI) - Purdue head men’s basketball coach Matt Painter took a step toward filling out his coaching staff on Tuesday with the announcement that Micah Shrewsberry will join the Boilermakers as an assistant coach.
Shrewsberry comes to Purdue after a four-year run at Butler where he was able to coach in the last two NCAA championship games. The Indianapolis native arrived at Butler in 2007 as coordinator of basketball operations, and was promoted to assistant coach in July of 2008.
Shrewsberry is a graduate of Cathedral High School and Hanover College. He began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at the University of Indianapolis in 1999. After periods as an assistant coach at Wabash College (2000-01) and DePauw University (2001-03), he spent the 2003-04 and 2004-05 seasons as director of basketball operations at Marshall.
