WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - The Purdue Boilermakers scored 21 first half points and held off a late rally by the Fighting Illini to win 21-14 at Ross-Ade Stadium.

Purdue was led by junior Caleb TerBush who completed 16/25 passes for 178 yards and two touchdowns. The Boilermakers received key contributions from Justin Siller, Raheem Mostert, and Jared Crank who each scored a touchdown in the first half.

The Purdue defense didn't allow Illinois to get into much of a rhythm offensively. Ricardo Allen and Kawann Short led the defensive attack. Allen intercepted a Reilly O'Toole pass at the Purdue 7-yard line on Illinois best drive in the first half. Purdue took a 21-0 lead into halftime.

Illinois lost their second straight game after beginning the year 6-0. The Fighting Illini scored on a 16-yard run by Jason Ford with 8:12 remaining, and a 2-yard run by quarterback Nathan Scheelhaase to cut Purdue's lead to 21-14 with 54 seconds to play.

Purdue's Justin Siller recovered the onside kick, and the Boilermakers ran out the clock.

Purdue is now 4-3 overall and will take on Michigan in Ann Harbor next Saturday with kickoff set for noon.
