DELPHI, Ind. (WLFI) - Congratulations to Delphi Senior Cole Murray who signed on the dotted line to play Division I basketball at Northern Kentucky on Wednesday afternoon.

“The decision was actually pretty easy, I wanted to go somewhere that I would make a difference right away and I wanted to go somewhere where it was like a family,” said Delphi Senior Cole Murray. “They really provided a lot of the things I was looking for when it came to make a college decision,” said Murray.

Murray was joined Wednesday by his family, friends and Delphi administrators as he made his college decision official.

Murray, a six-foot-seven guard-forward, averaged 21 points per game during his junior season with the Oracles while also averaging over six rebounds per game.

The All-Hoosier Conference selection shot 39.1 percent from 3-point range.

Murray said Northern Kentucky runs a perimeter-oriented offense and isn't afraid to put up 3-pointers. The Norse shot nearly 150 more 3-pointers than their opponents last season, hitting 42.5 percent from long range.

Murray chose Northern Kentucky over scholarship offers from American, Appalachian State, Boston University, Gardner-Webb, Kennesaw State, Kent State, Lafayette, Northeastern and Western Kentucky.

“I felt comfortable down there and it is definitely a dream come true for me. I really envisioned myself playing college basketball and now that the opportunity is here and I have finally sealed the deal now it feels really good,” said Murray.

Northern Kentucky is located in Highland Heights, Ky., a suburb of Cincinnati. NKU, previously members of the Division II Great Lakes Valley Conference, is transitioning to full Division I status as members of the Atlantic Sun Conference.
