RUSSIAVILLE, Ind. (WLFI) - Western swimmer Summer Brown enjoyed a successful junior season.
Brown capped off her season with two top 10 finishes in the state finals. She finished in sixth place in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 51:36.
Brown enjoyed her best race of her career in the 200 yard freestyle where she finished in second place with a time of 1:49:30.
"I'm happy I was able to compete with the top swimmers and was able to place second," said Brown. "I just feel that is a great accomplishment. It just confirms that hard work really does pay off and it just makes me want to work harder to improve and be better next year."
"In 18 years of coaching I have never had that exciting of a race and she came within five hundredths of a seconds of a state title and that is just incredible," said Western swimming coach Brad Bennett.
Both of her times broke school records at Western.
