WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Prior to his gold medal performance in the 10-meter platform competition at the Olympics in London, David Boudia talked about numerous topics including what his future as an Olympic athlete might include.

Boudia's victory by 1.08 points over Qiu Bo of China gave the U.S. its first gold in diving since 2000, and was the first by an American man since the late Mark Lenzi won the 3-meter springboard at the 1992 Barcelona Games.

Boudia, tied for second with Qiu going into the last round, and then proceeded to score a 102.60 on a back 2 1/2 somersault with 2 1/2 twists pike worth a 3.6 degree of difficulty. It was the highest score of any dive in the finals.

Most would assume Boudia would defend his gold medal in four years at the Olympics in Rio. What most don’t know is that might not be the only sport Boudia will compete in.

“There are some other things in the works to, I'm thinking about doing another event as well and it's not diving so we will have to stay tuned to that,” said David Boudia.

Boudia returned to Purdue University on Wednesday and has yet to divulge what the other sport is, but after earning a gold medal in London it’s safe to say anything is possible.
