The Purdue men’s tennis team kicks off its fall season on Friday with the start of the three day Purdue Invitational. The tournament will run from Friday-Sunday at the Schwartz Tennis Center with action beginning at 8 a.m. ET each day.

The Boilermakers will host 12 other teams and nearly 100 participants for the weekend event. The tournament will be broken up into three 32-individual singles brackets and three 16-team doubles brackets. On Friday, singles matches will begin at 8 a.m. and run throughout the day.

Each individual is scheduled to compete in two singles and one doubles match on Friday. On Saturday, each individual is scheduled for two doubles and one singles match. Sunday will determine the champions of each bracket.

The Schwartz Tennis Center has 18 courts, 12 outdoors and six indoors. All action is scheduled to take place there, weather permitting. Friday’s forecast calls for afternoon thundershowers. If rain halts Friday’s outdoor matches, the draws may be split between two sites, the Schwartz Tennis Center and Cumberland Park, on Saturday.

Butler, DePaul, Iowa, IPFW, IUPUI, Toledo, Green Bay, and Valparaiso are among the schools joining the Boilermakers. Western Michigan, Xavier, Marquette, and Cleveland State are the others.

Final draws for the tournament are scheduled to be released Thursday night.

The tournament will be the first opportunity for Boilermaker fans to see the 2012-13 team that features three juniors, two sophomores, and one freshman. Arthur Dobradin will make his Purdue debut in the tournament while juniors Aaron Dujovne, Mark Kovacs, and Szymon Tatarczyk look to lead the team with their experience. Last year’s team MVP Diego Acosta and local talent Evan Hawkins are the two sophomores on the team.

Results for the tournament will be posted to PurdueSports.com following the completion of each day.
