Boilermakers look to bounce back against Buckeyes

WEST LAFAYETTE, IN. (WLFI) - The Purdue football team will look to rebound on Saturday after dropping back to back games to open the Big Ten season. The Boilermakers will begin the road portion of their Big Ten schedule as they attempt to beat Ohio State on the road for the first time since 1988.

If Purdue can sneak out of Columbus, OH with a victory they would win back to back games against the Buckeyes for the first time since 1960 and 1967.

The Boilermakers are currently 3-3 on the season but are off to an 0-2 start in Big Ten play.

“We are very disappointed in the loss, in the score, and our performance last weekend. But we have to turn the page and move on. You know, we can't wallow in it all week long,” said Purdue head coach Danny Hope.

It’s not the start the Boilermakers had in mind. Purdue has been outscored 82-27 in their two losses to Michigan and Wisconsin.

The Ohio State Buckeyes are 7-0 this season and won a 52-49 shootout in Bloomington against Indiana last weekend.

“Obviously, we have a great challenge this weekend. We'll have to play an excellent game in all three phases, to compete with a great football team like Ohio State. And that's where our focus needs to be at. Getting better and getting ready to play the next game,” said Hope.

Caleb TerBush agrees with his head coach that the last two weeks have been very disappointing but adds that this season isn’t lost with six conference games remaining.

“It's a huge game regardless. I mean, we're not really looking at it to jump start the second half of the season. It's just another game we have to go out and take care of business,” said Caleb TerBush.
