WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - After a 48-6 victory on Saturday, the Purdue football team now turns their attention to Notre Dame. It would be a road win that would mean a lot to this football program.

“It's a tough venue to play at times. It would certainly show that we were a strong willed and strong minded. I think it would be a confidence builder for our football team and also a confidence builder for our fan base. There is a lot to be gained from a big win in south bend this weekend,” said head coach Danny Hope.

“Preparation this week is going to be key and everyone has to be focused. Right now this is going to be our first practice against Notre Dame and we feel like as players we can do what we need to do to get the win,” said senior defensive tackle Kawann Short.

Purdue heads to Notre Dame in search of their first victory in South Bend since 2004. The Boilermakers anticipate this trip being different.

“I don't know, something about it just really gets me going. I'm definitely excited about the environment. I don't think it's going to make us more or less nervous. We have played at Penn State, Ohio State, and some of the nastiest environments and they are no different from playing it there, once you get on the field everything just goes out the window,” said junior right tackle Trevor Foy.

“I just feel like this team has a different mindset and the talent is very different now and we are all focused right now and everyone is ready to beat Notre Dame. All the seniors are really trying to get this win before we leave. We feel like we have an advantage of having a better team and a lot of guys are healthy now so there is really no excuse. We just have to do what we need to do,” said Short.

Saturday's game marks the 84th all-time meeting between Purdue and Notre Dame. A win would be the Boilermakers 12th in South Bend.
