Boilermakers feel rested & recharged as they await their NCAA Tournament fate

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - The last time the Boilermakers played a game, they won their 9th Big Ten Tournament title.

Since then, head coach Sharon Versyp gave her team three days off to go home and enjoy some family time during Purdue's spring break.

“It was awesome to have a break and it was nice to get away for a little while, especially after a victory. We are feeling good, waking up feeling like a champion everyday,” said senior guard Chantel Poston.

The Boilermakers are back on campus and ready for the NCAA Tournament to begin next week. The gold and black practiced for the first time since winning the championship on Thursday and the Boilermakers feel good about the work they got done.

“I think when we came back to practice yesterday you could tell that they were really fresh and excited because you don't always get that if they obviously have to go to school for three straight days,” said Purdue head coach Sharon Versyp.

“Last year we didn't get that time because we had class the next day and to be able to have those three days off was amazing and all of us come back and miss each other already after three days. It's time to just get back together,” said Purdue junior guard.

The 2012 NCAA Tournament selection show for women's basketball takes place on Monday night 7:00 PM.
