OXFORD, Ind. (WLFI) - A year has passed since Benton Central beat Logansport by 16 points. On Tuesday night, Logansport returned the favor with a 56-40 win over Benton Central.
Logansport entered Tuesday's game ranked fifth in class 4A while Benton Central was ranked first in class 1A. The Lady Berries jumped out to an early 7-0 lead and never relinquished it.
Logansport led 32-25 at halftime. The Lady Bison pulled within two points in the third quarter 32-30. However, the Lady Berries then grabbed control of the game to pick up the 16 point win.
"Benton Central is a great team," said Logansport junior guard Whitney Jennings. "They are number one in class 3A. Coming in here we knew it was going to be a tough game playing at there home, but we came in with a game plan and stuck to it and it worked. So, it is a good one for us.
"We will definitely take this (tough loss) and add fuel to the fire to push us for a postseason run," said Benton Central senior Caitlyn Tolen.
Whitney Jennings led all scorers with 21 points. She also added seven assists and four steals. Logansport's Nakeya Penny added 12 points and nine rebounds. Benton Central's Cassidy Deno led the Lady Bison in scoring with 19 points. Tolen added six points and five rebounds.
Benton Central drops to 13-2 on the season while Logansport improves to 15-1.
