LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Linebacker Dewayne Beckford was dismissed from the Purdue football team by Head Coach Danny Hope Wednesday.
The dismissal of Beckford comes two days after Coach Hope indefinitely suspended the Boilermaker senior after his most recent arrest Monday.
Three new charges were filed against Beckford by the Tippecanoe County Prosecutor's Office Wednesday. Beckford's most recent charges are possession of drug paraphernalia, felony possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a synthetic drug.
Beckford is being held on a combined $15,000 bond for his three most recent arrests Wednesday.
Beckford, the Boilermakers' top returning tackler, had been reinstated to the Boiler football program earlier this summer after being suspended by Coach Hope as a result of previous arrests linked to alcohol and marijuana-related offenses.
