WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Purdue football started off its seventh day of preseason camp by holding its annual Media Day event at Ross-Ade Stadium.
Three Purdue players who had previously been off-limits to the media until Friday---linebacker Dwayne Beckford, wide receiver Antavian Edison, and wide receiver O.J. Ross---were made available to reporters for interviews Friday.
Beckford, the team's top returning tackler, was arrested within the past year on alcohol and marijuana-related charges. Edison was arrested on a concealed weapons charge, a charge that was eventually dropped. Ross is back on the Boilermakers roster after dealing with academic-related issues.
"Just with the talent we've got back and a lot of young guys who can contribute," said Beckford. "I think we've got enough talent to really be one of the best in the league."
"We know exactly what we need to do," added Edison. "Just go out there on the field and play how we're capable of playing."
Ross says he's learned a lot about himself during the past few months.
"I just basically had to mature," Ross said. "I'm just ready to keep moving forward."
The Boilermakers are scheduled to practice Saturday morning.
