NEW YORK, New York (WLFI) - A questionable flagrant foul against Purdue senior D.J. Byrd gave Villanova some much-needed points from the free throw line in the final minute of regulation, with the Wildcats eventually capitalizing to post an 89-81 overtime victory over Purdue Thursday night at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
The Boilermakers led by four points in the final minute of regulation when Byrd was given a flagrant foul by referees while trying to protect the ball from a pair of Wildcats defenders. The flagrant foul was Byrd's fifth foul of the game, fouling the Boilermaker senior out of the game.
