SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WLFI) - Kyle Brindza kicked a 27-yard field goal with seven seconds remaining to lift number-22 Notre Dame to a 20-17 victory over Purdue in a college football contest Saturday at Notre Dame Stadium in South Bend.

The Boilermakers had tied the game with 2:12 remaining in the game when Purdue quarterback Caleb TerBush connected with Antavian Edison on a 15-yard touchdown pass on a fourth and 10. Edison scored both Purdue touchdowns, the first coming on a two-yard reception from quarterback Robert Marve late in the first half. Marve left the game with an injury late in the fourth quarter.

Former West Lafayette Red Devil Sam McCartney kicked a 33-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter to account for the remaining Boilermakers points.

The loss drops Purdue to 1-1 on the season. The Boilers host Eastern Michigan Saturday, September 15 at noon at Ross-Ade Stadium
