LINCOLN, Nebraska (WLFI) - Four Purdue players scored in double figures as the Boilermakers posted a 65-56 road victory over Nebraska Wednesday night in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Terone Johnson scored 18 points to lead the Boilermakers. Freshman center A.J. Hammons added 14 points and seven rebounds.
Leading 28-19 at the half, the Boilermakers went on a 15-4 run to begin the second half which helped the Boilermakers earn their second road victory of the season.
“Well, I think there were a lot of runs in the game. I thought that we were pretty good in stretches and then they were pretty good in stretches,” said Purdue head coach Matt Painter. “I think when it comes down to it being able to get off to such a good start in the second half was really important to us because when they made their run we had such a significant lead at that time that they really couldn’t get it to where it was two possessions. I think that really helped us, that start of the second half,” said Painter.
D.J. Byrd added 12 points for the victorious Boilermakers while freshman point guard Ronnie Johnson added 10 points, six rebounds, and six assists.
With the win, the Boilers improve to 3-2 in Big Ten play and 9-8 overall.
