EUGENE, Ore. (WLFI) - Former Purdue track and field standout Kara Patterson qualified for the 2012 Summer Olympic Game Sunday by placing second in the women's javelin at the U.S. Track & Field Trials in Eugene, Oregon.
Patterson, who graduated from Purdue in 2009, was a two-time All-American and earned the 2008 Big Ten Women's Field Athlete of the Year during her stellar Boilermaker career.
It will be the second Summer Olympics competition for Patterson, who finished 41st in a javelin qualifying round in Beijing in 2008
