LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Last Thursday Lafayette Jefferson received an official letter of invitation from the North Central Conference to join the conference beginning in the 2014-2015 school year.

On Monday, the Lafayette School Board Corporation Board of School Trustees was presented the letter and provided their full support to the change in conferences.

"Lafayette Jeff has a storied past with the North Central Conference and we are proud, once again, to be a member. We are excited about the opportunities and new relationships for our student-athletes that will come as a result of being a part of a conference with a rich tradition like the NCC," Lafayette Jeff Athletic Director Mark Preston said in a statement released Monday evening.

The NCC will be making an official announcement about the expansion of their conference, with additional details, in the near future. Until that time, Lafayette Jeff said that it will wait to make any further comments on its new conference affiliation.
