WEST LAFAYETTE, Indiana (WLFI) - The rumor mill was spinning quickly in regards to the head football coaching vacancy after at least one post on the social media network Twitter said that Purdue had offered the Boilermakers head coaching position to Butch Jones of Cincinnati.

The Denver Post is reporting that Jones could also be a serious candidate for the coaching vacancy at Colorado. As for late Thursday night, Jones had not publicly commented on any coaching vacancies. Burke hasn't made any public comments since a Sunday night press conference held shortly after announcing the firing of then-head coach Danny Hope.

GoldandBlack.com has reported since Sunday that Jones is Purdue's top hiring target, followed by Louisiana Tech head coach Sonny Dykes.

Cincinnati has one regular season game remaining this year as the Bearcats take on Connecticut Saturday.
