PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — The cost of gas in Rhode Island has dipped by three cents, reversing a recent trend of higher prices at the pump.

AAA Southern New England says Monday that its survey of gas prices found the average cost of a gallon of regular is $3.79, down from $3.82 last week.

Prices have gone up 13 cents in the last month, and the current average in Rhode Island is five cents higher than the national per-gallon average of $3.74.

Rhode Islanders were paying an average of $3.80 a year ago.
