Cubist Pharma names Michael Tomsicek as new CFO

LEXINGTON, Mass. (AP) — Cubist Pharmaceuticals Inc. said Monday that Michael Tomsicek will replace David McGirr as chief financial officer.

Tomsicek has been the company's deputy CFO since July. McGirr is now the senior adviser to CEO Mike Bonney, and he will retire from the company in 2014.

McGirr has been Cubist's CFO since November 2002. Tomsicek joined Cubist in 2010 as head of corporate finance.

Cubist shares rose 69 cents, or 1.6 percent, to $44.16 in midday trading. They are trading near the upper end of their 52-week range of $36.73 to $49.86.
