LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Wabash National announced today that they have hired 100 temporary employees and have plans to hire 90 more this quarter.
The company said that improvement in freight demand driven by a general strengthening of the economy had led to the hiring decision.
They said production and customer demand levels have not been as high as they are now since 2008.
Though the hires will be temporary, Dick Giromini, President and CEO of Wabash National, indicated in a press release that there was a chance they would become permanent employees.
"While it is too early to declare that recent demand will prove to be sustainable, we are none the less encouraged by the increased quote and order activity of late. We are hopeful that the addition of the new hires will be long-term," stated Giromini.
