Triple XXX receives national honors

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - A local restaurant is receiving national attention as one of the 51 best burger joints in America.

West Lafayette's own Triple XXX is listed as having the best burgers in the state of Indiana, according to a recent USA Today Poll.

Owner of Triple XXX Greg Ehresman said he was caught off guard by the nomination. He said the paper called the restaurant at the end of August for a list of the burgers, including the most unique, the Purvis burger with peanut butter.

"We thought we were going to be part of many places in the state of Indiana as well as the United States," Ehresman said. "We had no idea what we are in for when it was printed and we were the only one in Indiana so that was quite an honor."

Ehresman said the restaurant received national attention before in the summer of 2007, when Triple XXX was featured on the Food Network's Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. He said it's humbling to represent the state of Indiana.
