LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - You'll find more than just books at your local library. Today, libraries are focusing on new media, which could actually mean $$$ for you.
Many people spend a good deal of money renting DVDs at the video store. Look no further than your local library to cut those costs.
"We have absolutely new, current titles," said Mandie Roberts, Tippecanoe County Reference Librarian. "As soon as they come out on the market, we have them on order. We have over 6000 titles of fiction DVDs."
Cody Curry, library patron, is one of the many customers taking advantage of the savings.
"[With] video stores you have to commit to a card and if you're
late you get a bunch of late fees," he said.
But it's not just movies. What if you could eliminate your
internet bill each month but still have access to the web?
"We have 12 dedicated computers for that purpose," said Catherine Salazar, Tippecanoe County Librarian.
Salazar said the Tippecanoe County Public Library also offers free wireless internet to everyone, with or without a library card.
"We also have WIFI, so if they perhaps have a laptop of their own and they want to bring it here they are welcome to do that and anyone can use it," Salazar said.
Even color printing is cheaper. " They can get full color prints for $.10, it's the best deal in town," said Salazar.
