LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - The Lafayette Caterpillar plant has announced another layoff.
Corporate spokesman Jim Dugan said approximately 106 production employees are affected by the decision, which was announced to employees Tuesday.
Dugan issued the following statement: “LEC continues to monitor its operations and demand in order to balance production needs and employment levels. We regret the need to reduce our workforce, however, Caterpillar is taking difficult actions today in order to position the company for long-term success in the global marketplace. The announcements will impact about 106 production employees, and will take effect in early November.”
In May Caterpillar announced it would institute a series of “rolling layoffs.”
At that time, the company said 985 employees at its Lafayette
plant would be affected.
