TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - It appears Milestone Contractors has decided not move its gravel pit and asphalt plant to a site along County Road 300 North.

Earlier this month, in a two to one vote, the Tippecanoe County Commissioners gave approval for Milestone Contractors to re-locate to land along 300 North.

Now, it appears that move won't be happening. A one paragraph statement sent to News Channel 18 from the office of Milestone Contractors' attorney Dan Teder states:

"Milestone Contractors has reached an agreement with IMI to continue its asphalt plant operation at the current location on State Road 25 North. The relocation of Milestone's existing office complex on Veteran's Memorial Parkway to the property on County Road 300 North continues to be part of our overall plan. Milestone Contractors, with positive input from the Tippecanoe County Commissioners, are considering other possible, less intrusive, uses for the remainder of the County Road 300 North site."

- Dan Teder, Milestone Contractors' attorney

The issue was a hot topic earlier this month as several people spoke out in opposition to the re-zoning of land around their homes from agricultural to industrial, a decision required for the move to happen. At the meeting, homeowners voiced concerns about decreased property values, possible contaminated water wells, traffic, and safety.

The statement wasn't specific as to what other sites Milestone Contractors could be considering.
