LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Downtown Lafayette drivers will soon have a place to stop for gas.
A new Marathon gas station and Quick Stop convenience store will be built at the corner of 9th Street and Ferry Street. The space near O'Rear's Pastry Shop has been vacant for many years.
Project Manager Jim Griffin of J2LR Contractors from Indianapolis said construction will include more than just the store.
“We are projecting an 18-week process that will encompass this whole lot. It will include new sidewalks, handicap ramps on each corner, and new curbing all the way around. It will be an upscale project for this area and and it will definitely improve the downtown area,” he explained.
The gas station and convenience store should be finished by early October 2010.
