LOGANSPORT, Ind. (WLFI) - More than 355 workers face lay-offs over the next few months at the Logansport State Hospital.
A news release issued by the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration said the state plans to improve patient access to community-based care by making changes at four of its six psychiatric hospitals.
The statement said the majority of civil beds will be closed, and Logansport State Hospital will focus on forensic and high-risk patient populations, a transition which will result in a drop in patients from the facility's current number of 388 to 134.
The changes and layoffs are expected to be completed by March of next year.
