LAWRENCE, Ind. (WISH) - A freshman Lawrence North High School student took a stun gun on a school bus on Tuesday, school officials said.
A school bus driver told the school, and officials began a search of students on the bus. Another student tipped off school administrators, who found the stun gun in a 15-year-old’s backpack.
"I'm proud of the student who stepped forward to make sure the stun gun was found," said Principal Brett Crousore in a news release. "Our students want their school and buses to be safe. Stepping up was the right thing to do."
The student told administrators he didn’t realize the item was in his bag. He said it belongs to his parents.
No one was injured. The student was suspended pending an expulsion hearing.
