HOUSTON, Tex. (WLFI) - Houston Rockets forward and former Purdue standout Carl Landry attended Rockets practice Wednesday morning, one day after being shot in the left leg in downtown Houston.
"I'm blessed and lucky to be alive," Landry told the Houston Chronicle. "The situation that happened was really scary."
Landry's agent, Buddy Baker, said in the coming days he would try to determine whether Landry might need counseling. Baker is a Purdue alum and former Boilermaker basketball manager.
Teammates stopped to applaud when Landry arrived at practice, on crutches, accompanied by his mother, Anita.
Landry, who is averaging nine points and five rebounds this season, is expected to be sidelined 1-2 weeks.
Landry was a First-Team All-Big Ten for the Boilermakers in 2007 and led Purdue to the second round of the NCAA Tournament during his senior season with the Boilers.
