Software company plans Indianapolis expansion

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - A scientific software company is planning to expand its Indianapolis operations after it was recently picked to provide its software to the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Indigo Biosystems says it has expanded its office space at its headquarters on the city's north side and expects to add perhaps more than 60 employees over the next couple years.

The Indiana Economic Development Corp. says Indigo has received nearly $2 million in grants in recent years from the state's 21st Century Research and Technology Fund to develop its Ascent software. The company says that software helps researchers analyze medical tests performed on millions of patient samples every year.

Indigo says it now has about 30 employees at its Indianapolis office, including engineers, mathematicians and other researchers.
